IL SORRISO BENEDETTO

libro

If memory,as poets have said, is “ the garden of dreams”, childhood is a spring which we very often go back to, to quench our thirst. It is like clear water, it is the symbol of life which flows quietly and washes away the ravages of time. Childhood and adolescence years are the mould of a man’s life. Our soul with its first experiences, like our body with its genetic inheritance, holds the values that will guide our life. In the starting period of our exestence the world goes into the sphere of our conscience with full spontaneity, without realizing that our drives and our cultural baggage have rooted in our unconscius. The inner mould is something hidden but it is memory that moulds the matter. Life will be likely to keep us away from it by giving it a tormenting meaning for something that has gone lost for ever.Knotting the thread of the recollections to catch those fragments which come back to mind, allows us to make the signs of our future emerge. The pursuit of lost time shows the creative power which goes with the unconscious change of our personal stories. Memory is a sort of unending rhythm, the eternal coming back of a leitmotiv where harmony always reconstructs the sense of existence and enriches it with absolute sweetness.Melancholy does not dim the “cradle song”: the events of the first years of our life are the ouverture of our future.“Time is a child who plays moving the dice: “ a child’s reign”. The enigmatic Heraclitean aphorism shows us a deep truth:by playing a child expresses his candour and as he grows he catches the right moments to remain a child. His unconscious attitudes allow him to play and amuse himself, thus achieving a link between eternity and time, a sort of mysticism of the ineffable, the place of an endless return to the origin, which fulfills itself in the reassuring “once again”. The eternity of games bridles time but it is always the games which make us wise. A pilgrimage in the childhool world takes us to the unlimited inside the finite,to that multum in parvo, which allows us to catch something greater. Of this world we relive the moments of grace and purity, of closeness to nature, of inner strength, of candour, because to know is to recollect. “ Recovering the world means to recover a childhood which is mysteriously hidden in the Place, it means to perceive the light of great landscapes, the charme of nature, the majesty of mountains”. (Emmanuel Lévinas,Heiddeger, Gagarin e noi). Childhood is the recollection of a lost dimension, where time is suspended as if in a dream. Only a few are able to preserve it with great care: only Kindermenschen can maintain the primitive gifts of spontaneity and innocence unchanged. As adults that delicate and charming world appears like a miniature universe, but it is always what is infinitely small that reminds us of the infinite greatness of creation.
